What is Fishtech Global’s role in the world of aquarium keeping. We offer the simplest way for the hobbyist to care for their aquariums and the equipment that supports life in those aquariums. Unfortunately, the hobby is just not that way now. For the retail aquarium shop, the quarantine of fish is a very complex and misunderstood topic. To have a proactive disease management system in an aquarium shop that covers treating every aquarium fish for all pathogens that fish incur and the tolerance of each species to medications is unbelievably difficult. Fishtech global set out to design such a system and allowed 12 months full time research which became 16 years of full-time research.

We cultured many species of fish pathogens in our laboratory to understand their lifecycle and medication doses that proved effective. We then tested the medications across thousands of fish and hundreds of species to understand that fish’s tolerance to medications. In our laboratory we did random scrapings of fish in quarantine and post quarantine to check and modify our systems to ensure success.

During this time, we were told by fellow biologists that what we were hoping to achieve was impossible. Many times, over the years we had to discard everything we learnt about fish pathogens and rewrite whole new theories. We have many groundbreaking world first treatments for fish diseases which make our system unique.

Fish diseases on aquarium fish is not the fault of your local pet store.  Aquarium fish endure a long journey before they get there. During shipping and transporting the fish can be exposed to a lot of stress and this may compromise the fish’s immune system.

But, the correct quarantine of the fish is the aquarium shops responsibility, before the fish reach their forever home in your aquarium. Quarantine of aquarium fish is a very complex chore, but the fish will thrive when using the Fishtech Global’s system.

Once the fish are settled into the hobbyist’s aquarium the responsibility of maintaining a good environment is a big task for the home aquarist. With today’s busy lifestyle some of the chores may be overlooked. Many times, we find most people can’t remember the last time the filters impellor was cleaned, or the inserts changed, and the water tested. I could go on and on with many chores that can save a lot of heartache later.
